Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating according to the necessary Premier League health protocols, said the club which will continue to follow all rules and guidelines related to Covid-19, which the club confirmed on Tuesday 29th September, 2020. The 29-year-old Spaniard was signed by Liverpool from Bayern Munich last month in a deal worth up to £25m, and made his first performance for the Premier League champions in a match with a score of 2-0 win at Chelsea on the 20th September, 2020.
Liverpool posted on their club's official Twitter account confirming his diagnosis: " that Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for corona virus and is currently self-isolating himself according to the protocols and not infecting other players, friends or family.
Thiago Alcantara, who missed Monday’s match against Arsenal, has be affected with minor symptoms of the virus but is in good health and is getting better.
LFC first-team doctor, Dr Jim Moxon, added to his health: “It is the choice of any individual to either reveal the outcome of a corona virus test to the public or not. He also said that Thiago Alcantara is healthy and strong and he will be back soon to the league.
He could be back for the match at Mersey derby against Everton on October 17. The Premier League also announced on Monday 27th, 2020 that 10 players and staff from 20 clubs has been tested positive for Corona virus last week, and the highest number of cases of infections since the testing program became systematic effective since last May.
